Planned Parenthood, the state's largest abortion provider, announced a sweeping cutback of abortion services in Arizona on Thursday, saying it will no longer offer the procedure in communities outside metro Phoenix and Tucson.

Planned Parenthood to limit abortions in Tucson

Stung by last week's appellate court ruling, Planned Parenthood will no longer offer abortions at seven of its 10 Arizona locations.

The net result is both surgical and medical abortions from Planned Parenthood will be available only at its locations in Glendale, Tempe and one of its Tucson sites.There will be no more abortions in Yuma, Flagstaff, Prescott Valley, Goodyear, Chandler or at some locations in Phoenix and Tucson.

A new study published in the Journal of Youth and Adolescence refutes a long-standing contention that teenagers are better able to handle an abortion than dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
