Mooney Family of "99 Balloons" Appears on Oprah

October 28th, in a show featuring Miracle Children with Celine Dion, Oprah shared the incredible story of Eliot Mooney, the precious baby son of Matt and Ginny Mooney of Arkansas and the 99 days of life they treasured with him.

This video was featured at the 2007 Share in a life fundraising event. The short film blessed and brought tears to many in attendance. The video has been posted again below.

As a happy update, the Mooney family gave birth to their daughter Hazel Emerson on Tuesday October 14, 2008. You can view more photos and keep up with the family on their blog: thespectacularvernacular.blogspot.com

"99 Balloons" Revisited

In an age when abortion on demand is the norm, and when doctors routinely advise pregnant mothers to abort children found to have genetic abnormalities, parents who choose to give birth to handicapped children are becoming less common.

These days it takes a special type of courage to ignore the advice of physicians, friends, and public sentiment, and to embrace the sacrifices that come with bringing a seriously handicapped child into the world.

The Healing Hearts Hospice is a pregnancy/infant loss program of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Tucson.  Hospice care provides a different kind of hope; hope of time with your baby, hope of collecting memories and keepsakes to validate your baby’s life, hope of uncomplicated grief by being prepared.  The best care we can give you is not to protect you from pain but to support your though it.
